In 2013 Natalie learnt her first child in-utero had a fatal condition, bilateral renal agenesis / Potter's Syndrome, and would not live beyond birth. Together with her partner Matthew, she carried Evan to term for a peaceful homebirth at 43 weeks and became grieving parents, embarking on a year of creative defiance. Natalie draws on how the births of her children helped conceive an art project that would marry birth with fictional narrative photography. and spread a message of the importance of reverence for women's birthing instincts. Filmed in September 2017 on The Farm in Tennessee, famous home to the founder of a global midwifery movement Ina May Gaskin, Natalie discusses how The Farm will later play a role in her series.
